Huge Weekend for Kings

League leading Cape Cod Cubs rolled in to NJ over the weekend for two games.  So far this year, the Cubs have had their way with the Kings, winning all 4 games.  The Kings have been hot in their own right, winning seven of their last nine league games.

The results were quite impressive for the Kings as they took a 6-4 win on Saturday night, and then won a 10-8 shootout on Sunday.

The Team played very strong in all aspects against a very powerful Cubs attack.

Having surrendered only 4 points the entire season, being able to send the Cubs home without a point was vert satisfying!!!

Kings Hit Christmas Break on Roll, stomp Blackhawks 8-0

To wrap up the first half of the season the NJ Kings followed up a 5-3 win the night before

with an 8-0 shut out on Saturday.  Connor Widenmeyer was perfect in nets, turning aside 28 shots for the shut out.

In the Wake of the Coming Storm, the Kings Keep on A-Rolling...

All week long the forecast has been ominous for the weekend for NJ and along the entire east coast, but the Kings got on the bus and headed north ahead of the storm, and took the ice against the Boston Blackhawks looking for their 5th win in a row, and 6th of their last 7 games.  The bus was as bare as old mother Hubbard's cupboard as it pulled away from the Princeton Sports Center Friday morning.  Injuries, suspensions, and school finals took its toll on the Kings before the Blackhawks had a chance to.

When the night was over, the Kings had managed to extend the streak to 5 wins in a row taking a 5-3 win over the Blackhawks. Goal scorers for the Kings were Travis Dunn with 2, Costa Zafiris, Russ Williams, and Robby Harris with singles.  This was Russ's first game with the Kings.  Also making his first appearance with the Kings was Nicholas Reinson.  Time Pageau was solid in goal earning the victory.

The Kings face off against the Blackhawks again today at 7:10pm at Kasabuski Arena in Saugus MA.  They will be looking to extend their streak to 6!

Happy Holidays everyone!!

Kings Sweep Season Series

The NJ Kings went into this past weekend's games as winners of 3 out of 4, finally getting

into a bit of a groove and realizing some of their potential.  With more than a few players out with injury, the Kings hit the road with only 13 players for the weekend, and ended up having just 2 lines for the second game.  On Friday night, the Kings took a 7-4 win from the Mariners.  Saturday night saw the Kings hit full stride and down the Mariners 12-2.  Both night the Kings were the better team by far.

Kings take 2 from Mariners

The Weekend Sweep that has eluded the NJ Kings for much of the season was finally realized this past weekend with wins over the MA Mariners on Saturday and Sunday at the PSC.  On Saturday the Kings played to a 6-3 win and on Sunday the Kings took an 8-5 victory.  Over the course of the weekend, the Kings out shot the Mariners by  combined 127-37.

Jeckyl and Hyde Season Continues For the Kings

The NJ Kings hosted the Maine Moose this past weekend at the Princeton Sports Center.  On Saturday night, the Kings brought their "A" game and throttled the Moose by the score of 15-4.  Several Kings players scored multiple points on the night led by winger Logan Phillips netted 5 goals in the win and added 2 assists.  Goalie Tim Pageau was solid in net, earning his 4th victory of the season.

On Sunday morning, the Kings did not have the same level of execution or intensity and Maine was able to salvage the road trip by taking a 5-2 win. Kings goalie Connor Widenmeyer was exceptional in the net for the Kings.

Kings are back in IJHL action this weekend against current champs in Dracut MA.

After a weekend off last weekend, and a trip north of the border the weekend before the Kings will see lots of action this coming weekend in NH and MA.  On Friday in Exeter at 8:40pm, the Kings will face the Eastern Kodiaks in non-league action.  "After having a weekend off and half the team not able to travel the weekend before due to passport issues, this will be a crucial game for us to get back into the swing of things," said GM Glenn Carey.

After this game the Kings will stay right where they are for back to back league games against current league champs, the NE Stars.

Columbus Day Showcase Results

The NJ Kings showed very well this past weekend in Exeter, NH at the IJHL Columbus Day showcase, playing some very good hockey.  On Saturday, the Kings fell to the Cape Cod Cubs 6-1 in a game which could have gone either way early, and the result was really not indicative of the play at all.  Sunday saw the Kings fall to Bridgton Academy 3-0, in another very well played game.  "We had plenty of chances in both of those games, we just came up against a hot goalie in both cases and couldn't find a way to solve them.  The games were well played, and we did a good job of maintaining pressure and possession throughout.  We just have to get the puck to the net better," said Coach Glenn Carey of the two losses.  The second game on Sunday brought the Kings their first win of the weekend, by a 6-1 score over the Mass Mariner in what can only be described as a completely dominant performance.  The Kings outshot the Mariners 61-9 in the contest but once again faced a determined goalie who held their offence in relative check.

Next action for the Kings is Friday at 7pm in Quebec City vs. and Academy St. Foy, and Saturday at 2pm as well.

Kings Win Two and Add Two

With a weekend off from IJHL actions, the NJ Kings invited two local Midget U18AA teams to the Princeton Sports Center.  On Saturday, the Grundy Senators faced off against the Kings, with the Kings coming out on top 13-7, and on Sunday, Wissihickon stopped by and the Kings topped them 8-2.  "With a break in our league schedule, this was a nice chance to bring in some kids who we may like to consider for next year, and i was impressed by several of the players that I saw in both games," said Kings GM Glenn Carey.

Sunday also saw the the Kings latest addition, Nolan Miller, a defenseman from Nova Scotia, suit up for his first two games.  "Nolan is a very nice addition to our blue line, and certainly brings us a step closer to where we need to be in order to compete for the IJHL crown", said Carey.  Nolan played for the South Shore Mustangs last season, along with Current King teammate Logan Phillips. "Nolan is a strong, physical defenseman with good puck skills.  He is a powerful skater who sees the ice very well, and he is not scared to be physical along the boards, or to push the puck up himself," added Carey.  Nolan is 6'1", 205 lbs and will wear number 19 for the Kings this season.

After Tuesday's practice, the kings got a commitment from another defenseman, Peter Plumeri, of Atlantic City, New Jersey.  "Peter has come to a few practices over the past couple of weeks and has shown that he certainly will be a contributor for the Kings.  Peter is very smart on the ice, positionally very sound and is also a strong skater who see the ice well and gets his shot on net, said Carey, "being able to add two defensemen of this caliber and this point of the season, after bringing in Carroll and MacMullin late as well, has really shored up the Kings Roster."  Peter is 5'10" and weighs 170, and will wear number 3.

NOTES:

-Kings wish Sean Bourgeois a quick recovery and speedy return to the Kings.

Kings and Moose Split in Weekend Set in Maine

After a long ride on Saturday, the Kings took a little extra time to get things going after the game got going.  They found themselves in a pretty big hole, down 4-0 after the first period.  "It would be easy to say that the boys had a little bit of bus legs and blame the slow start on that, but we can't make excuses," said Kings coach Glenn Carey, "we knew what we were facing with the long trip, and we had to be ready for the game no matter how long we were on the bus."

When the second period started, the Kings began to gather the momentum in the game, and battled hard for loose pucks, and committed to plays. "Hesitation was killing us in the first period. We talked about it during the intermission, and we responded'" added Carey.

The rest of the way, the kings showed that they could outwork their opponents. For much of the 3rd period, it appeared as if the Kings might come all the way back, but took a few penalties down the stretch and that really sealed the game for the Moose.  The final score was 6-4 for the Moose, and the scene was set for Sunday's rematch.  Sean Bourgeois played very well in front of his home town crows scoring a hat trick, his second of the season.

With the new day, the Kings showed up knowing that if they could skip the slow start, they would be able to compete with the Moose and should be able to scratch out a win.  Facing a 4 game losing streak, the game was played with energy, and with desperation, the way hockey was meant to be played.  The Kings took a 2-0 lead into the room after the first, and a 3-1 lead after the second. The Kings special teams were key in the this game, both scoring 2 PP goals and killing off several penalties when the game was still in reach.  The third period turned into a shoot-out of sorts which saw the kings add 5 more, and the Moose notched 3 of their own.  The final score saw the Kings up 8-4.  "its nice to get a win, and to score 8 in a game against a quality team, but giving up 3 goals in the 3rd is not a good sign.  We will have to really work to button things up down the stretch. Great game though overall, and i hope the boys can build on this and take a huge step forward," said Coach Carey.  Costa Zafiris followed up Bourgeois' hat trick on Saturday with one of his own.

The games were broadcast live on Renegade Radio Network at www.renegaderadio.com.  Please continue to support Renegade Radio as they are attempting to cover several IJHL games this season.

Next Kings action is October 3rd at the Princeton Sports Center, 8:00pm start when the Grundy Senators U18 come to town.  Sunday the Kings will face off vs. Wissahickon U18 in exhibition action at 10:00am.

Other Notes:

Ryan MacMullin saw his first action for the Kings in this weekend's series with Maine.  Ryan is a big strong defenseman who plays a tough game, but can skate and moves the puck pretty well. Ryan is from Sydney, NS and actually played one games for the Maine Moose earlier in the season, but did not sign a contract with the team.  Ryan is a 1992 birth year, stands 6'2" and weights 200.  He will wear number 8 for the Kings.

In 7 games this season, the kings have recorded 4 hat tricks.  Bourgeios has two, Zafiris and Rogerson each with one.

Kings Drop Pair to the Harleys in Weekend Action.

In the home opening weekend, the NJ Kings dropped a pair of games to the Hackettstown Harleys, 6-3 on Saturday night and 6-5 on Sunday morning at the Princeton Sports Center.   "I feel responsible for the losses myself mostly," said head coach Glenn Carey, "while we lacked a bit in execution, and the boys have to take a look in the mirror as far as that goes, but as coach, I have to be sure to have them prepared to play.  I am not sure we spent enough time this week in practice doing that. The good part about junior hockey as that we can get right back on the horse and go at it again, to get ready for next weekend.  I believe that this team is very talented and we will come together, and play some very good hockey over the course of the season.  We will be ready for the trip to Maine, and we will get a chance to redeem ourselves, and myself.  We are going to spend a little extra time at the chalkboard and going over situational responsibilities before we take the ice in Maine."

Saturday night saw the debut of Joe Carroll on the Kings blue line.  Joe is joining the team as a defenseman and will certainly add some size, strength and much needed experience to a very young defensive corps. Joe played with the Mercer Chiefs U18 program last season, and will wear number 4 for the Kings.

Two More Commit to Kings

The Kings would like to announce two very key commitments to the 2009-2010 roster.

Tim Pageau of Worcester, MA will be joining the Kings this weekend in Saugus, for the IJHL showcase, and will be joining the team the following week after fulfilling his work commitments with his current employer.  Tim is a two-time IJHL Super Elite All Star from the 06-07 season and then again in 07-08 while playing with the Springfield Pics.  "When we learned that we needed a goalie last week, i never dreamed of being able to find one of the quality of Tim.  Having played against him for two years, and been continually frustrated by him, I will certainly be happy to have him in my net for a change," says GM Glenn Carey.

Tim is a 1990 birth year, stands 5-9, and weighs 170.  He will wear #33 with the Kings.

Andy Harrington, of Richmond, ME has also committed to joining the Kings in Saugus and for the 2009-2010 season.  Andy is a 3 time IJHL super Elite All Star, twice as a forward and once as a defenseman.  Andy is a tremendous athlete who posseses the highest level of determination.  He is a very strong skater, with great vision, plays physical, and has a knack for making the big play, at both ends of the ice.  "Andy has played for me for three seasons already, and the Kings are getting a true competitor here. He is a player who can take games over for long stretches, and hates to lose," says Carey.

Andy is also a 1990 birth year and stands 5-8, and weighs in at 165 lbs.  He will wear #16 for the Kings.

Kings Continue to Bolster Forwards, adding Two.

The NJ Kings would like to announce the signing of Logan Phillips fromKentville, NS, Canada.  Logan Brings top notch offensive skill to the Kings, having played AAA Major Midget for the South Shore Mustangs last season, and also having a few stints at the Maritime junior A level with the Halifax Lions.  Logan is a '91 birth year and posseses great speed, vision and soft hands.  He stands 5'10" tall and weighs in at 178lbs.  "Logan will certainly add to what was already a strong group of forwards. He is one of the youngest players on the team, but has lots of high calibre experience.  He could have stayed in the Maritimes and played Junior A there, but wanted to pursue his options in the NCAA ranks", offers GM Glenn Carey.

Logan participated in the QMJHL Lewiston Maniac's Training camp at the start of last season as well.  Logan will wear #14.

Also inking with the Kings is last year's leading scorer, Kevin Logiudice.  "Koho", as he is referred to by his teammates, has a very stong work ethic, and plays his position very well.  He is a great second effort type player and has a great knack around the net with the puck.  "Koho scored over 70 points last year for the Kings, so this is no small signing by any stretch.  He will be used in all situations this year for us," said Carey, "With the offensive skill we seem to have on this squad, It is not going to be possible for teams to focus on shutting down Kevin, which was the tactic I used with the Moose last year.  He put up 10+ points with other teams game planning for him.  I look forward to seeing what he can do this season."  Kevin stands 5'11" and weighs 187lbs.  He will wear number 17 again this season.

Kings Looking for Donations for Dormitory House

The NJ Kings have signed a lease on a 7 bedroom house near the Princeton Sports Center and are looking for donations to assist in furnishing it.  "We were hoping to set up a billet family situation exclusively, but we were not getting the beds as fast as we were getting the players," said GM Glenn Carey, "I found a great house, two newly renovated separate apartment units in a single house with a large back yard, nice deck and finished basement.  I am going to move into the second floor unit, and we will house about 5 boys in the lower unit, but would like to be set up to house 7, at least temporarily.  What this means is that we have to find several pieces of furniture for the home, as we want to provide each boy with his own bed, dresser, and closet space.  We also have need of cookware, living room furniture, dining room furniture, basically anything that you might have that is in decent shape that the boys would be able to use."

Items Carey said were of interest:

Twin or Full size mattresses/beds

Dressers

Armoires or free standing closets

Couches/Loveseats/Chairs

Coffee table

TV

Microwave Oven

Toaster

Portable dishwasher

Cookware

Bakeware

Plates/cups/dishes

Patio furniture

"The Kings have a non-profit set up so that anyone giving donations will be given a receipt, which can be used at tax time'" added Carey.

Anyone wishing to make a donation of furniture or of any nature, please call Glenn at 207-333-1208.  Pick up will be handled by the Kings.

NJ Kings Partner with Combat Hockey

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

The New Jersey Kings and excited to announce that they will be teaming up with Combat Sports and Combat Hockey for the 2009-2010 season.

Combat Hockey will be the official stick supplier of the New Jersey Kings and will also outfit the team with Gloves and Pants, as well as gear bags, track suits and gym wear.

“We are very excited to be able to get Combat on board with the Kings.  Their product is second to none in technology, and performance.  Combat is a great hockey company run by great hockey people.  Their sticks, gloves and pants are all top quality,” said Kings GM Glenn Carey.

"We are excited to work with the New Jersey Kings program. Combat Sports is quickly becoming the preferred choice of many elite level players, adding the Kings to our list of team partners is another step forward for our brand at the Junior Hockey level in the Northeast United States", Dave McNally, VP of Sales and Marketing/Combat Sports Inc.

You can visit the Kings website at www.njkings.com and you will find Combat Hockey on the internet at www.combatsportsgroup.com

Kings add one of Coach Carey's former players

Coach Glenn Carey is pleased to announce the addition of Sean Bourgeois of Winslow, ME to the 2009-2010 roster.  "Sean is a very nice addition to the Kings roster.  He is a dynamic offensive player with a nose for the net.  He has an above average shot, good speed and is not scared to play physical," said Carey.

Sean played for the Maine Moose last year posting a stat line of 13 goals, and 9 assists, in 35 games. In order to sign Sean, the Kings will have to pay a transfer fee to the Maine Moose.

"By adding Sean, we continue to add to the depth we have up front.  We are going to be able to roll three lines in just about every situation with what we have, and our 4th line is looking like they are going to need to find some steady minutes too," added Carey, "these are very good problems to have."

Kings training camp opens on the 23rd of August at the Princeton Sports Center, in Monmouth Junction.

Kings find more help from north of the border

Kings coach Glenn Carey took a brief trip to attend his 20 year high school reunion in hopes of seeing some old friends and having a chance to catch up with some of his old hockey teammates as well.  Never shy to mix in a little business with pleasure, coach Carey returned with another signed contract, from yet another Halifax West High School graduate, Zachary Rogerson.  At 6'2, 205 Zack's an offensively-gift with a potent shot, speed, playmaking skills and creativity with the puck, especially in tight quarters.  In his final season at Halifax West High School, he led the team in goals, assists and points, Zack is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League's Valley Wildcats. Zack makes a return to hockey with the Kings after taking last year off to pursue studies at Saint Mary's University.   Zack will wear number 78 for the Kings.

Halifax Invasion Continues

New Jersey Kings coach Glenn Carey grew up about 50 minutes away from Halifax, in a town called Bridgewater, NS.  "I certainly do have a burden for young men in the Atlantic Provinces of Canada.  I am very happy to be able to present them with an opportunity to continue their hockey careers after HS or Midget.  Many of them do not really know the opportunity that exists in the US with NCAA college hockey, and there are many players who have the skill to play at that level who just give up after they age out of midget."

Perhaps Carey will be able to help Halifax natives Chris Ghosn and Costa Zafiris, both who played for Halifax West High School last season, get the chance to play in college down the road.  "Chris and Costa signed today after a brief visit with their dads to check out the area, arena and school situation.  I am very happy to have both boys and both will be relied on heavily to contribute for the Kings next season.  Costa is a very heady, skilled player with soft hands, and great vision.  He plays center and will wear number 91 for us.  I expect him to be a top point producer but also to work on the PK for us next year.  Chris is a bit more of a straight line player, but has a great work ethic and a nice shot, and will not be outworked by anyone.  Chris will wear number 12.  I expect Chris to be be a player that sets the tome physically for us, but he has the shot to score a bunch too.  Both boys are good skaters, and will play together on a line," says Carey.

The Kings are still looking for a few more players to fill out the roster for the 2009-2010 season.  If you are interested in being considered, please e-mail Coach Carey at gcarey@njkings.com.

Kings sign three more

The NJ Kings would like to announce the signing of three more players for the 2009-2010 season.

Returning from last year's team Sean Kacerosky will be back patrolling the blue line again for the Kings this year.  Sean is a hard working defender who makes good decisions with the puck, and never gives up on a play.  "I remember coming to NJ to play the Kings last season and seeing him in warm ups and thinking, OK, we are gonna dump in his corner and wear him down and take advantage of him a bit.  Well, we dumped it in, and he went and got it and made plays, time and time again.  We eventually switched up tactics because he didn't make any mistakes," said Kings coach Glenn Carey, "he has grown a bit since last year and has had some very good summer practice sessions.  I am looking forward to seeing what he can do this year."  Sean is a '93 birth year.  Sean will wear number 20 for the Kings.

In an interesting development, the Kings have signed Russian born Goaltender, Alexandr Novichikihin.  Alex is a '92 birth year and has spent the last several seasons in the Russian Olympic Reserve Program. He has put up some very impressive numbers in his recent seasons in Russia, and he has a strong desire to come to North America to pursue an NCAA career.  "Having not seen Alex play personally, this was a very tough decision, but he has some very good references from some very impressive names in Russian hockey circles.  I am confident that based on his level of play that he will contend for the top goalie spot with the Kings," said coach Glenn Carey.  Alex will wear number 33.

Completing this round of signings, The Kings would also like to announce that defenseman Tommy White will be joining the team for the 2009-2010 season.  Tommy is a tall defenseman with a huge reach who has recently undergone a tremendous growth spurt.  He is well north of 6 feet tall and although he is yet to really fill out, having well above average height and reach will be a new asset for Tommy.  "Tommy has to work on his skating and maybe a bit on his toughness, but so far in the summer sessions he has looked like he has belonged. These are very common facets of the game that players undergoing  recent growth spurts experience.  Having a chance to play against some older kids every day, Tommy will have a chance to compete and his skating will improve as long as the effort is there." says coach Carey.  Tommy is a 1992 birthyear.

Kings re-sign Leininger for upcoming season

Alex Leininger will once again be donning the black, grey and purple of the NJ Kings in 2009-2010.  Alex played for the Kings last year after completing the midget season with the NJ Stars, and is primed to take another step in his hockey development.  "Alex is a big kid, who has good vision and good soft hands on the ice.  He has a pretty good touch around the net, and if he is willing to play in the traffic areas down low, could have some scoring potential,"  said GM Glenn Carey of the signing, "he is very well liked by his teammates, and has committed himself to working out hard for the rest of the summer.  Like most 16 year olds, he needs to work on his foot speed, but I am confidant that this area of his game will improve vastly once we get going.  I am looking for him to double or triple his point output from last year."

Alex will wear number 88 for the Kings this season.

IJHL Showcase Schedule released

The NJ Kings regular season schedule will kick off on September on Friday September 4th, in Saugus, MA where they will face off against, ironically, the Hackettstown Harleys.   Hackettstown is about a one hour drive from the Princeton Sports Center, but both teams will make the trip to Mass for that weekend and will both open up their seasons at 9:40pm that night.  "I am hoping that we will have a great rivalry with the Harleys.  There is enough there already to to assume that will be the case.  Several of the Kings players from last year have followed Gary Golczewski (last year's coach of the Kings) up there, and with them being our closest neighbor in the league, it just makes sense to expect our games with them to have an added sense of urgency," offers Glenn Carey, Kings GM and Head Coach.

NJ Kings officially open up trade route to the Maritime Provinces of Canada

After weeks of negotiations, the NJ Kings officially signed their first Canadian yesterday, welcoming Grant Fraser, of Halifax, Nova Scotia to the 2009-2010 roster. Grant is a 5'11" forward weighing 145 lbs.  Grant is described by his former coaches as a very intelligent player, with very good speed and an even better work ethic.  Grant attended Halifax West High School this year and is just about to graduate.  He has played for his high school the past 3 seasons.  "I met Grant for the first time yesterday.  He was referred to me several weeks ago by a scout that I worked with while I was with the Maine Moose, and ever since then, we have been e-mailing and talking on the phone about him coming to play here in New Jersey next season.  Everyone who I have spoken with about Grant all give him very high marks for work ethic, intelligence on the ice, and character.  I am very excited to have him as part of the team next year," said head coach Glenn Carey about the signing.

Keep an eye on the site as well, as Coach Carey is in feverish negotiations with several other players for the 2009-2010 season.  "I have been talking to a player from Russia quite extensively over the past week and it looks really good for him to come over.  Then there are the other boys from Nova Scotia, a player from Michigan, and a few in Massachusetts who are all at that stage where more signings could be imminent," adds Carey.

Kings Add Three to the Fold

On Tuesday night the Kings held their weekly Skills Practice. Before the practice started, there was good news waiting in Coach Carey's mailbox at the Princeton Sports Center.  The fourth contract of the season was delivered today and the Kings are very happy to announce that TRAVIS DUNN, of Standish, ME will be in a Kings uniform for the 2009-2010 season.  Travis is a hulking forward who brings a great shot and goal scoring ability to the table.   Standing 6'2" and weighing in at 215 lbs, Travis, a 1990 birth year, will wear #18 for the Kings next season.  "Travis has a great knack for getting the puck to the net, and often times, in the games I have seen him play, in the net.  He uses his size and above average skating ability very well.  His game should actually translate very well from  the high school level as he was often penalized for being too big, and too strong at that level.  I look for Travis to continue to score goals and hope to work with him to round out his entire game," says Coach Carey.  Travis played his high school hockey for the Bonney Eagle HS Scots, scoring 47 goals and adding 28 assists over the past two seasons there.  Travis reached the very elite 200 point club by scoring 206 over his four year career with the Scots.  Travis is also an excellent student.

After the practice session ended, two more contracts were turned in.

KENNY WHITE of Wayside NJ put his name on paper and will be with the Kings as well next season, and will wear #44.  Kenny did not play last season as he chose to go to school, but he has a real desire to give hockey one more chance. Kenny has been attending the Tuesday practices and has quickly been polishing off the whatever rust he may have had from taking last year off.  He brings deceptive speed, decent size and a nose for the net.  Kenny is one of those players that you think you have contained, but somehow he slips through, and he is good in tight to the net with a decent pair of hands.  Kenny is a 1989 birth year.

Finally, last night, ALEX PAPARO, a 1992 birth year forward from Manalapan, NJ also signed his contract.  This is another very big signing in Coach Carey's eyes.  "Alex brings a tremendous compete level on every rep of every drill.  He would make an outstanding shut down checking type winger, as he never gives up on a play, but he has a very high skill level to go along with it.  In most cases, players with his skill do not always have the drive that Alex has.  He is still very young, as a '92, which means he has four years of junior available to him.  Alex is slightly undersized, but he is hitting those prime growing years, so look for him to shoot up,"  says Coach Carey, "either way though, size won't be a problem for him,  his desire makes it seem like he is 6 feet tall..."  Last winter, Alex played for the Protech Ducks, and for Manalapan HS scoring well over a goal per game over the course of the season, totalling 40 games, with 52 goals and 30 assists.  Alex will wear #22.

Keep watching the site as more contracts will be coming in very soon!

NOTE:  After next week, the Kings practice night will be switched to Thursdays for June and July.  Time is yet to be determined, but it is looking like it will be around 7pm.  Keep an eye on the schedule in the top right hand corner for updates. This session is always open to Kings players, and is also open to outsiders at the price of $20.00 per session.

Host Families Are Always In Demand!!

One of the biggest challenges presenting junior hockey teams today is providing quality places for players from "away" to call home while they are in the area for the season.  The Kings have a very simple, yet effective billeting program.  Players pay a monthly fee of $350.00 to the host family to help cover the additional costs of room and board, and the Host family has the opportunity to welcome a player from another part of the country, or in some cases, another country altogether, into their home over the course of the hockey season.  If you need an extra pair of hands to help out with the household chores, or have young hockey player who might benefit from having a mentor type in the home, or perhaps you have just sent your own kids off to college and have a spare room, then consider becoming a host Family for the NJ Kings Junior Hockey Program.  Please E-mail coach Glenn Carey for more information at gcarey@njkings.com

Kings Ink Three

The NJ Kings are thrilled to announce the signing of three local players for the 2009-2010 season.  Two players from last year's team will be returning and one player who comes to the Kings from the NJ Renegades Jr. B Program.

Connor Widenmeyer returns for another season after seeing action in 20 games for the Kings last year.  Connor posted 11 wins 4 losses and 1 ties and one shutout in those 20 games.  Connor is a 1991 birth-year and possesses very sound technical skills.  Connor will wear number 1 for the Kings this season.

Houston Foster will return to the Kings as well.  Houston brings a very high compete level, fantastic speed and work ethic to the lineup and will be counted on heavily in the fore checking game, and also will be used to kill penalties.  Houston was able to put up 8 goals and 12 assists last season, but look for those numbers to increase this year.  Houston will wear number 13.

Rob Harris played last year for the NJ Renegades and for the Mercer Chiefs Midget AA squad before that.  Rob also possesses great speed and has a good shot and puck skills  that could see him become one of the King top scorers this season.   Rob has also played in the 2008 Hockey Night In Boston tournament for Team New York.  Rob has chosen number 6.

Keep an eye on the site over the next week or so as several contracts are "in the mail", and as they roll in announcements will be made. Kings head coach and GM Glenn Carey is in discussions with players from New England, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Russia, and several local players as well about playing for the Kings.
